Service Description
Founded in 1974, Resilience (formerly Rape Victim Advocates) is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the healing and empowerment of sexual assault survivors through non-judgmental crisis intervention counseling, individual and group trauma therapy, and medical and legal advocacy in the greater Chicago metropolitan area. All trauma therapy services at Resilience are free, confidential, and are offered to survivors and their non-offending loved ones. Services are provided by licensed therapists or interns pursuing graduate level degrees in counseling, psychology, or social work. We additionally offer STI and HIV testing and pregnancy support. Resilience provides public education and institutional advocacy in order to improve the treatment of sexual assault survivors and to effect positive change in policies and public attitudes toward sexual assault.

In-office therapy for survivors ages 13 and older is offered at our Central, Northside, and Austin offices. In order to ensure that we are dong all we can to be available for those in need, we are offering one-time appointments with our trauma therapists remotely. We also remain available for long term trauma therapy related to sexual violence. If you are interested in speaking with a therapist our trauma therapy services to survivors is now available by telephone and video conferencing in English and Spanish.
