Service Description
At Ascensions we practice a “therapy without walls” approach in which we see no boundaries in providing the best psychological care possible. This means that we provide a variety of services not just to children and adults suffering from serious emotional, behavioral and/or mental disorders, but to their entire family unit; we believe that payment should never be a barrier to healthy functioning and offer our services free of charge to all individuals in need; and we deliver our services in a variety of settings including, our Anacostia-based office, local public schools, workplaces, churches and other community agencies.
Aside from the traditional family therapy that we offer, our therapists provide children and their parents with a number of services vital to healthy functioning including: individual therapy for issues that require focus outside of the family unit; therapeutic groups to facilitate peer learning and psycho-education on topics including surviving the homicide of a loved one, maintaining healthy marriages, and self-esteem/resilience; and parenting education/support/therapy groups to provide the support for what some would call the toughest job in the world, developing healthy and happy little people.
